ACC MOURNS SABARA’S EXIT

African Coaches Connect has joined the Nigerian football community, at home and in the diaspora to mourn the death of veteran football coach Sebastine Brodericks Imasuen. Coach Imasuen, popularly known as Sabara died in the early hours of today.

Sebastine Broderick-Imasuen led Nigerian national U-17 football team to victorious outing in the inaugural FIFA U-17 World Championship in China in 1985. He also led the team to the subsequent cadet FIFA World Cup in Canada and Scotland respectively in 1987 and 1989.

The late coach before his death has been on a sick bed due to a protracted illness which kept him bedridden for a long period of time.

African Coaches Connect had been in contact with the family of late Sabara, and inducted him into “The ACC Care Outreach Program”. ACC nursed care and concern over his health situation before his death.

The President and founder, ACC, Eldred Sunju-Abbey has lamented the death of Sabara as a massive loss to the African Coaches community.

Sunju-Abbey who played briefly under him added that coach Sebastine Brodericks Imasuen exited the world stage when his wise counsel on footballing matters are most needed.

The ACC helmsman used the opportunity to make a case for an enduring welfare and health insurance package for football coaches and sportsmen who have done the country proud in their active days.

Meanwhile, ACC leadership has directed that flags at ACC’s premises and events will fly at half mast for the next three days in honour of the departed coach. Also, during the opening formalities of the fast approaching maiden international convention of ACC in Abidjan, a minute silence will be observed and black arm-bands in honour of late Coach Sebastine Brodericks Imasuen.
