Celebrating A Legacy Of Trailblazing Excellence: An Iconic Beacon Of “Joy”, Hope And Inspiration For Women In Football.

The ACC family is deeply saddened by the loss of Coach Joy Nnenna Etim, a trailblazing pioneer and iconic figure in Nigerian football. As the first Nigerian female coach, she shattered glass ceilings, inspiring generations of women to embrace the beautiful game. Her passing on July 31st, 2024, in Lagos, has left an irreparable void.

Coach Sir Godwin Bamigboye, ACC’s Nigerian Senior Special Counselor of Coaches Mobilization and Management, expressed, “Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and the entire football community. We mourn the loss of a true champion, a pioneer, and a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose and service.”

Coach Grace Kurah, ACC’s Head of Nigerian Female Coaches Capital Innovation and Development, who shared membership with her on many fronts, notably the Nigerian Ex International and Professional Women Footballers Association, emotionally murmured, “We take comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will continue to inspire and motivate us to strive for greatness. I will miss her dearly, but her memory will live on through the countless lives, including mine, she touched and the impact she made on the beautiful game and our country.”

ACC’s Founder and President, Coach Eldred Sunju-Abbey, fondly remembered and cherished her dedication, passion, and contributions as the first female coach of the Super Falcons, her role in discovering and nurturing young talents, and her tireless efforts in promoting women’s football. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones, including her husband, children, and grandchildren, as well as the Nigerian Ex International and Professional Women Footballers Association, where she was an active member. We also extend our sympathies to the Puma Academy and the entire football community. Coach Joy Etim’s legacy will continue to inspire and empower future generations. May her soul rest in peace, and may God comfort those who mourn her loss.”

This version maintains the same sentiment and message while refining the language for better clarity and flow. I’ve used more descriptive phrases to emphasize the impact of Coach Etim’s passing and added “fondly remembered” to express a sense of warmth and admiration for her contributions.
