Coach Joy Nnenna Etim’s remarkable journey came to an end on July 31, 2024, but her indelible mark on Nigerian football will endure.

 As the nation’s first female coach, she paved the way for generations of women in sports.

Joy’s passion for football was ignited at a young age. She rose through the ranks, determined to succeed in a male-dominated field. Her dedication earned her a spot as a member of the Super Falcons’ coaching crew, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s success.

Coach Etim’s impact extended beyond the pitch. She mentored countless young women, instilling confidence and skills that transcended sports. Her legacy continues to inspire female footballers, coaches, and aspiring leaders.

Off the field, Joy was a devoted mother to Emmanuel Etim, a respected sports commentator at Nigeria Info FM, Lagos.

Her love and guidance shaped his career, reflecting her unwavering support for her family.

To celebrate Coach Etim’s life and achievements,  series of events have been holding on her behalf. 

– *Novelty Match*: Friday, October 18

– *Wake Keep*: Saturday, October 19, at her Lagos residence

– *Service of Songs*: Monday, October 21, 5 pm, Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos

– *Interment*: Wednesday, October 24, Ohafia, Abia State

– *Thanksgiving Service*: Sunday, November 3, Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos

As Nigeria bids farewell to this trailblazer, we honor her contributions to football, women’s empowerment, and her family’s love. Coach Joy Nnenna Etim’s legacy will continue to inspire and motivate future generations.
