“It is a privilege for me that now I will be contributing to continue growing this sportIn my new post” – Victor Egere – ACC

A coach who coaches a senior team is Orosco Anonam who had experience with Żejtun Corinthians and who is now managing Marsa FC. The rest we have many African coaches who run the grassroots or a youth team like Ndubisi Chukunyere and Haruna Doda. We want more of these ex-players who I am sure have all the necessary knowledge to succeed.
What kind of activities will you be organizing in the coming weeks and months?
The ACC will be visiting countries such as Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Africa, Morocco, Botswana and Egypt in order to continue spreading the word In addition, between the 17th and 21st of January, right during the AFCON Cup that will take place in that month, we will have a General Assembly in order to convey not only our views but the a philosophy that we will be adopting so that in the end we see more African coaches being part of the most crucial decisions not only in this continent but beyond it.
Persuaded we will arrive. The road is long but we are ambitious – we can do it!
I would like you to convey a message to those who are reading this interview about the importance of practicing a sport.
Sport is a very important source for man to grow not only physically and socially but also psychologically. Sport gives you a lot and it gave me a lot. It was a privilege to play in Malta and it’s a privilege for me that now I will be contributing to continue growing this sport in my new position!
frican Coaches Connect (ACC) is a group formed with the objective
primary would be the one that brings together the professional needs and to help in the development of African coaches.
It is a known fact that there are few coaches from Africa who are being given the necessary education to excel in their work. Despite everything, there is a sizeable number of them who are leading teams in Europe, South America, Australia and in the Arab countries.
The aim of the ACC is precisely to have continuity for the coach who has started leading a team and above all to keep improving his qualities in this field. At the same time, the aim of this group is to give coaches from Africa an opportunity to lead prestigious teams, something that is not really seen at this moment around Europe.
This group is also working through a number of workshops which include courses, training, seminars, work opportunities and even medical schemes.
This newspaper spoke to Victor Egere, a former Floriana player back in the nineties where he gave us more information about the ACC.

I wanted to start this interview by talking to me about the time when you played with Floriana FC. What do you remember?
I played with Floriana in the 1996/1996 season. At that time as president there was Anthony Grech Sant who left the world some twelve months ago. As vice-president there was Neville Fenech and it was a time when the squad began to be built with players of great potential. In the team I had with me Joe Brincat, Nenad Veselji, John Buttigieg and Richard Buhagiar.
I remember a particular game I had against Valletta where I scored two goals to give my team a 2-1 victory in this long awaited game.
Despite everything, I had many injuries during that season and unfortunately I was more out of the field than playing. It was for this reason that I had my contract terminated and thus ended a season in which there was nothing more than disappointment.
Talk to me more about your agency African Coaches Connect.
Let me start by telling you that we have over two million members who are united with us and are progressing.
