AFRICAN COACHES CONNECT (ACC) – ACC FOOTBALL PRIME DISPATCH

SAFA has reappointed Pitso John Hamilton”Jingles” Mosimane as Head Coach of Bafana Bafana. The 62-year-old tactician, who previously led the national team from July 2010 to June 2012, has returned home. This time, the mission is greater. The stakes are higher.

FROM BROOS TO PITSO: THE END OF AN ERA, THE BEGINNING OF A NEW DOCTRINE – Hugo Broos departed in July 2026 after five years of distinguished service. Let us be clear: Broos transformed South African football. He guided Bafana Bafana to a third-place finish at AFCON 2023. He also made history by leading South Africa to their first-ever FIFA World Cup knockout stage in 2026. For millions of South Africans, Broos did more than coach football. He restored joy. He restored pride. But contracts expire. And at the end of July, Broos’ tenure came to a close, and South Africa must come home.

The question that echoed across every township, academy, stakeholders and football house was: “Who is next?” SAFA has answered. And they have turned to one of their own and one of our own.

WHY PITSO? WHY NOW? – THE ACC PERSPECTIVE From the African Coaches Connect (ACC) standpoint, this appointment is not based on sentiment. It is based on science and sovereignty.

1. THE FIND: Pitso Mosimane is a proven African product. A 3-time CAF Champions League winner. A FIFA Club World Cup veteran.

2. THE JUDGE: Bafana Bafana require identity, discipline, and continental respect.

3. THE PROTECT: Stability for the road to 2030 World Cup and multiple AFCON cycles.

4. THE KEEP: Retaining African tactical intelligence on the continent.

5. THE COMPLETE: A CAPSTONE appointment to finish the work started in 2010.

THE ROAD AHEAD Pitso Mosimane’s mandate:

1. Protect the Gains – Maintain the World Cup knockout mentality

2. Fortify the Mind – Build a team that fears no nation in the world.

3. Reform the Environment – Connect the national team to academies, in alignment

A CONTINENTAL CALL: TRUST AFRICAN COACHES AND FOOTBALL PROFESSIONALS TO LEAD AFRICA – African Coaches Connect (ACC) categorically outlines its appreciation and congratulations to the South African Football Association [SAFA] on this historic appointment. ACC commends SAFA specifically on 3 grounds of African Professional Competence and Excellence:

1. COMPETENCE RECOGNIZED By appointing Coach Pitso Mosimane, SAFA has affirmed that African coaches possess the technical competence, tactical knowledge, and tournament pedigree to lead at the highest level of world football. A 3-time CAF Champions League winner requires no further audition.

2. CAPACITY DEMONSTRATED This decision demonstrates SAFA’s belief in the capacity of African professionals to manage pressure, manage elite players, and deliver results on the global stage. From Sundowns to Al Ahly to the World Cup, Pitso has proven that capacity exists within Africa.

3. EXCELLENCE AFFIRMED SAFA has chosen excellence over expedience. By rejecting the cycle of foreign recycling, SAFA has affirmed that African excellence is not imported. It is cultivated, earned, and entrusted at home. This is the standard ACC has preached across 54 nations. To the other FAs. yet to embrace the African dignity. To every club chairman. To every technical director across the continent: Let SAFA’s decision be your mirror. For too long, we have outsourced our football intelligence. We have paid premiums for foreign passports while sidelining African diplomas. We have imported systems but exported our best minds. That era must end. Now. TRUST the coach who understands the African player’s hunger, not just his stats. BELIEVE in the tactician who has won on African soil, under African pressure, with African resources. INVEST in native competence that speaks the language, carries the culture, and bears the continent’s ambition.

The data is clear. The evidence is Pitso. The evidence is Broos’ successor being African. The evidence is everywhere we choose to look. If South Africa can do it after tasting World Cup success, so can the rest of MOTHERLAND still outsourcing. So can every club in the our beautiful and endowed continent. When we trust our own, we keep our money, our knowledge, and our legacy on the continent. When we believe in our own, we build dynasties, not dependencies. ACC therefore calls on all African FAs and clubs: End the experiment. Start the era. Appoint African coaches and football professionals. Build and Back Africans. Defend Africans.

ADDITIONALLY: African Coaches Connect is particularly proud because Pitso Mosimane is one of our own. He is a friend and brother to ACC, to our Founder and President, Coach Eldred Sunju-Abbey, and to ACC’s South Africa General Coordinator, Special Counselor on Clubs and Players Involvement and Branding, Mr. Emmanuel Godwin. This appointment is therefore personal to the ACC family. We do not only celebrate a coach. We celebrate a brother entrusted with a nation and Africa’s clarion.

Mr. Emmanuel Godwin, states: “This is not just a return. This is a reckoning. When an African son is given the mandate to lead his own, it signals that the era of doubt is over. Pitso returns not to start, but to finish what Africa and ACC started. SAFA has chosen science over sympathy, and sovereignty over shortcuts. From South Africa, we say to the continent: Watch this space. A dynasty is being built.”

This is more than a coaching appointment. This is a policy statement. This is African Solutions for African Football in action. For this courage, for this vision, and for this belief in African professional competence and excellence, ACC extends its deepest appreciation and congratulations to SAFA. May this decision inspire every FA across the continent and shame every club still in doubt. Football is more than results. It is legacy. Hugo Broos gave South Africa joy. Now Pitso Mosimane has the duty to give them a dynasty. Africa is watching. The World is anticipating. Because when one African coach and football professionals succeeds, the entire continent rises.
